27 November 2007

The meeting held on 27 Nov 2007 was definitely an exciting one - many 'first's for LionCity Toastmasters Club in fact!

New members, William and Madhavan made their maiden speeches - Project 1 Icebreaker.

Elizabeth who also attended the night's meeting, participated actively at the Table Topic Segment. Bravo for her!

Friends from afar, such as Friedrich, who hailed from Germany, shared with us on the numerous toastmasters club in Munich. He also took on the role as an evaluator.
Many Thanks Friedrich!

Darren, from California, joined us at LionCity Toastmasters Club officially as a member! Welcome!

Josephine, our Vice-President of Membership, VPM, ingeniously set the table topic questions in origami-style tags - adding a new twist to this ever-challenging but interesting segment!

Centred around the Thanksgiving theme, questions such as "Why we should be thankful towards our enemies.." evoke hilarious responses from the members. The participation was very spontaneous as everyone took part in the table topic segment!

It was a tough decision during voting time for the "Best Table Topic Speaker" but eventually, Hwee Min came out tops winning the honor as "Best Table Topic Speaker". Congratulations!

Our last meeting for the year of 2007 will be held on 10th December! See you there!

Club Meeting on 12 November 2007

New member to the club, Johnny Tan, took up the role as the Toastmaster of the Evening and did a good job, adding humor and establish a comfortable setting for the club's meeting.

As Table Topic Master, Clint revved up the club members' creative juices by serving up interesting items bought from a local shop as table topic questions. These items, ranging from Chinese teabags to facial cleanser, were the table topic questions that audiences would have to attempt to promote. Several of the speakers were incredibly imaginative and responded with great comic timing!

During the prepared speeches segment, Cliff, Josephine and Clint spoke on their experiences with Clint on his research on caffeine and coffee-farmers; Josephine on her recent house-hunting episode and Clint's character-reference of an ex-coworker and his marketing tactics.

Check out the photographs below captured during the meeting!
