A Successful Communication Workshop!!

The Communication Workshop 2008 organized by Lion City Toastmasters Club on 29 March 2008 was a raving success!

More than 30 people attended the workshop held at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge, coached by Lion City Toastmasters Club's very own award-winning speaker, Ng Seng Chuan, complemented by our competent emcee, Yeow Chern Chou

Seng Chuan highlighted some common mistakes public speakers make when delivering their speeches and the techniques one can adopt in order to wow the audience.

The workshop was very interactive as the audience engaged in group discussions and exchanged their views on a sample speech made by the coach.

Both Chern Chou's & Seng Chuan's comic timing loosen up the crowd and participants were very active duing the Q&A session. By the end of the workshop, everyone left with the knowledge of delivering better speeches and of course smiles on their faces!

It was pouring, it was the week after the international speech competition - and what a climax that was, and it was the week club subscription fees were due. Perhaps that explains the lacklustre turnout. Hopefully after a 3 week hiatus and the commencement of a new subscription term, we will resume from the high of the recently concluded competition.

Don't forget to pay Hwee Min your club dues!

Guests Sebastian, Ronnie and Christine gamely obliged by participating in Table Topics; everyone had a shot at it, and Josephine was dubbed Best Table Topics Speaker for the night.

William shared the importance of non-verbal communication with everybody during his prepared, invoking participation from the audience as he did so, while Josephine wrapped up her final basic manual speech project by sharing her experiences from Suzhou to the present.

And so that wraps up the month of Mar... As we enter the month of April, just a final word - don't forget to pay your dues!

Role Bearers for the Night

It was a battle among the creme de la creme, at Lion City Toastmasters on the 10 March 2008.

A panel of 7 external judges led by D2 Area Governor, Ms Chin Mei Har, arbitrated the International Speech & Table Topic Contest.

The crowded room of audiences on Monday night, witnessed the gallant contestants of Lion City Toastmasters Club battle it out during competition.

The eventful night saw a total of 9 contestants participating in the competition. Every single one of them had put up a sterling performance!
